Updated LSCA ByLaws

The LSCA Board of Directors voted to update the LSCA ByLaws.  The key updates are:

1.  Move towards a more active Board of Directors by assigning duties to the Regional Board Members and the National Delegates.

2.  Formally establishing an Executive Committee (EC) made up of the LSCA officers and the elected National Delegates.  Duties are to make quick decisions for the LSCA and bring important items to the Board of Directors.

3.  Establish an Associate Membership (non voting) category.  This membership class is made up of individuals and vendors that will give the LSCA membership discounts, consideration, etc.  The Executive Committee will screen and approve this class of membership.  (Note we already have two vendors that qualify, Barepelt that gives the LSCA a commission and Bergs Outdoors that pays for the LSCA mail chimp newsletter subscription cost.)

4.  Establishing a due process procedure to insure adherence to the NSCA/LSCA rules and policies.  (The EC sends two letters to correct the issue, and if not corrected, recommends discipline actions for the Board of Directors to take.)

5.  Specifying the LSCA voting procedure that has been in place for years.  Also, limits voting privileges of inactive Clubs.

6.  Incorporating the NSCA ByLaws guidelines in the LSCA ByLaws (Safety, courtesy, etc. see published guidelines on the official NSCA website.)

7.  Subject to the LSCA Reasonable Effort written rule, incorporated the three person NSCA squad and the relatives can not score relatives policy.

8.  Gave the Host Club more flexibility in holding FITASC events at the State Championship. (FITASC mandated requirements are ever changing.)

9.  Established a proxy form.

10. Provisions for naming the official LSCA webmaster and social media administrators in writing.  (We had trouble changing responsible persons when the webmaster and administrators needed to be updated.)

Good News

1.  Covey Rise has been selected as the Host Club for the 2025 South Central Regional Championship.

2.  Joseph Pinchin has joined the Covey Rise Sporting Clays staff and will spearhead the LSCA's drive to enhance youth shooting.  Joseph got off to a good start by shooting 100/100 at the February 3rd shoot at Bridgeview.  Congratulations!

3.  LSCA signage at member Clubs.  Nice signs are being installed at member Clubs recognizing their membership in the LSCA.

4.  Kaley Hill was given a LSCA leather pouch for being the only person who shot in all twelve "Shoot the Boot" events in 2023.  VP John Ballance was the presenter which occurred at the 4H event on February 4th at Bridgeview.  Congratulations Kaley!

1 in 1,000 Membership Drive

In 2024, the LSCA plans on recruiting new members to reach the 1,000 member mark.  The program will reach out  to casual sporting clays shooters to encourage NSCA membership.

1.  New to Sporting Clays flyers are at all clubs.  Easy to join the NSCA (Complimentary Limited Membership (CLM) form on the back panel), flyers are at each Club.

2.  Specifics of the 1 in 1,000 LSCA membership drive will be posted at each Club along with promotional give aways when the LSCA reaches milestones.

3.  Partnered with the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) to hold a New To Sporting Clays First Shots Registered Shoot.

4.  Established New Shooter Welcome Committee at each Club.

Have a wonderful month.
